i need to tell you about the installation method used by keryx.. it seems like it's using the dpkg -i , right?
Let me tell you first that keryx have completely download all the package before i try to install them.
using dpkg-i sometimes will cause error, because of dpkg way of working.. well, sometimes it will work after several series of dpkg, but sometimes it leave with broken packages.

you know, i've stumbled upon a feature inside the synaptic package manager, 'add downloaded packages'.. and i've installed hundred of package using this methods (just 1 hour ago) , and im using ubuntu 10.04..

to reproduce my steps, just follow the instruction below:

1. Use keryx on offline pc to create project.
2. Use keryx on online pc to download.
3. to install, go to offline pc, and open Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)
4. once SPM launched, click file->add downloaded packages
5. select project folder inside the keryx folder, and select the case. <drive>/keryx/projects/<project-Name>/packages/
6. The installation will begin, and will complete without broken packages.

ps : Keryx works flawlessly in ubuntu 10.04 ! woot! woot !

hello again!
i realize something. for the synaptic to install the packages, synaptic must be able to determine the dependencies. so, the package information ( or the catalog of the package ; i didn't know it's name ) needs to be there inside the /var/lib/apt/lists/ folder. so, it's best to copy the catalog from the server and store it inside the folder before invoke the "install from downloaded packages" function in Synaptic package manager.

That is correct. This is why Synaptic's download scripts are actually completely useless. :\

Unless you have an Internet connection adequate to update the package lists, but not to download large groups of packages. But if you're completely offline, it's no good.

Keryx does copy the package list into the offline pc. We haven't added a feature yet to let you select packages offline to download later unfortunately. This is a really useful feature though and we are working on it!
